Mexicanos, Viva Mexico!

A whole block of Central American countries  (El Salvador, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua)  declared their independence from Spain on 15 September 1821. September 16th has been chosen the day to celebrate Independence Day in Mexico, celebrating the start of the fight for independence from Spain in 1810. Celebrations are held in every single city and town in Mexico on September 15h, and in Mexico City, the President himself rings the bell at 11PM giving the "El Grito" (The Shout) "Mexicanos, Viva Mexico". On the 16th, there are rodeos, parades, equestrian performances, and of course, all over mexico, there are Fiestas and parties to celebrate this day.

Not to be left out of the festivities, Mexicanos, Latinos and Gringas alike can partake in the festivities this year, celebrating 200 years of Mexican Independence. Find more information about the events at Mexicofest.ca.
