Noche Caleña 101, Part 1.

Colombian and Cali Style for Smart Salseros, a Reference for the Rest of Us

The first ever
Noche Caleña: Cali Night In Vancouver on September 17th, 2010 at the Hungarian Cultural Center, 728 Kingsway (@ Fraser) is fast approaching, but it is never too early or too late to get familiar with the various Colombian and Cali Styles that will be seen, danced, and showcased, (some for the first time ever) in Vancouver, British Columbia.

The way Salsa is danced in Colombia is very different from their Cuban and Puerto Rican counterparts adopting a side-side basic step as opposed to a forward and back basic step the islanders use.  Cali Salsa  style is revered on the international arena as one of the hardest and most energetic, displaying fast complicated footwork.
